I would like to express my compliments and gratitude to the Security Department at Capital Tower. Last October, I fractured my right ankle and needed to go through an operation. I went back to work at the end of December 2007, but had not fully recovered. I travelled to work via taxi daily as I could not walk, and needed to use the wheelchair to move around. When I arrived and left the building each day, the team of friendly, polite and dedicated security guards at Capital Tower would always come over to help the taxi driver with my wheelchair, hold the taxi door open for me, and keep me safe from traffic whilst wheeling me to and from the lift lobby.

Through my daily interaction with the team of security guards at Capital Tower, I realised that they are very dedicated to their jobs and are great examples of what it means to "go the extra mile" in service. They repeatedly told me that it is perfectly fine to help me as helping those in need and keeping them safe is part and parcel of their job. I find this very commendable indeed.

Although I am up and walking now, but still limping a little, whenever the security guards see me they still give me their best regards. I truly appreciate what they have done for me as one can be pretty helpless and dependant when one is not able to walk and has to move about frequently. To the Security Department at Capital Tower - thank you for all the help and keep up the good work!

Best regards,

CapitaLand officially launched its "Building A Greener Future" programme on 15 May 2008 at Raffles City Singapore. Dr Yaacob Ibrahim, Minister for the Environment and Water Resources, was the Guest-of-Honour at the event.

Speaking at the launch event, Mr Liew Mun Leong, President and CEO of CapitaLand Group said, "CapitaLand is happy to use its extensive real estate footprint to help spread the green message to as many individuals as possible."

The "Building A Greener Future" programme comprises a series of green initiatives to engage staff, tenants, shoppers, schools and the general public to adopt a greener lifestyle. The CapitaFrog mascot was specially created to help spread this message to the community.

Two green initiatives were launched in May 2008. One initiative was the placing of customised recycling bins for waste paper, metal and plastic at CCT's buildings in Singapore to encourage tenants to recycle. In another initiative, over 100,000 re-usable CapitaLand Green Shopping Bags which came with loyalty cards were given out.

On 10 July 2008, a third green initiative, the "Green for Hope" project, was launched. Aimed at encouraging primary school students to recycle and help their needy classmates, the project was open to all primary schools in Singapore. CapitaLand has set a target for the participating schools – to collect 875,000 kilogrammes of recyclable waste. For every kilogramme of recyclable waste collected, CapitaLand Hope Foundation, the philanthropic arm of CapitaLand, will donate S$2. The estimated donation of S$1.75 million will be deposited into the schools' welfare funds to help needy students with their education expenses.
