Symphony in Lotus

Galerie Belvedere presents “Symphony in Lotus”, a stunning exhibition of new art works by NY based highly acclaimed Singapore artist, Wong Keen. These art works have been produced at the same time as the artist prepares for a landmark Group Show in Beijing on June 5 2010. The recurring lotus motif is featured in striking compositions.

By way of background, Wong Keen was especially influenced by American Abstract Expressionist artist Willem de Kooning and also draws inspiration from Francis Bacon. Wong Keen has synthesised these influences resulting in his own riveting compositions. Keen began studying art under the tutelage of eminent Singapore artist, Liu Kang in the 1950's and went on to explore art further under Chen Wen Hsi, who became his guide and principal mentor in his formative years. Exhibition runs until the end of May.
